Railroad Crossties
Relay (or premium) grade railroad ties are available for pickup or delivery. While used, “relay” grade means that these are the only ties railroads can safely re-use or “re-lay” for new track. Relay grade is therefore a better quality than anything else being sold, such as #1s, #2s or #3s. New ties are not available to anyone except the railroads themselves.
Ties are purchased from railroads all over the country. They range in size from 6" x 8" x 8' up to 7" x 9" x 9'. Twenty-five ties are found in a “bundle;” all ties within our bundles are exactly the same size.
